2024 Programs:

Tokyo Tech Summer Program (on Hold for 2024)

UCSB science and engineering students are eligible to attend a 10-week summer intern program at Tokyo Institute of Technology.  Travel and living expenses are paid by the UCSB CISEI internship program.

Future Leaders in Advanced Materials (FLAM)
The MRL hosts an NSF REU site for students from UCSB and other colleges and universities around the country to pursue research projects under the supervision of MRL faculty and researchers. Summer internships are available.

Research Interns in Science and Engineering (RISE)
Students from UCSB and other colleges and universities around the country pursue research projects under the supervision of MRL faculty and researchers. School year internships are available (Summer RISE program is now Future Leaders in Advanced Materials, FLAM).

California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP)
UCSB science undergraduates from under-represented groups participate in summer and school year research projects.

Cooperative International Science and Engineering Internships (CISEI)
The MRL sends US undergraduate science and engineering students to 10-week summer internships at our international partner institutions. Students from our international partner institutions complete research internships at UCSB; international students should apply through their home university.

Partnership for Research and Education in Materials (PREM)
Students from Jackson State University and the University of Texas at El Paso participate in mentored research internships at UCSB through this NSF-funded partnership. The PREM and FLAM internship programs are run concurrently and PREM interns should apply through the FLAM program.

UCSB science and engineering students pursue 9-week mentored research projects at University of Texas at El Paso.
