Project Information
In this classroom activity, students construct a cell model to show the structure and function of eukaryotic cell organelles. Approximately 30 students, divided into groups of 3, will be assigned one organelle. Each group will create a model that demonstrates the structure and function of their assigned organelle. Students will supply additional materials based on their physical properties and use. After students have created their models, they will take photographs for a stop animation film. Before photographing, science and art students will collaborate via Skype to discuss organelle functions and the principles of composition. Using the techniques of photography, students will take photographs that will later be compiled via computer software for the stop animation film.
