Conferred by Queen Elizabeth II as a Knights Bachelor, Tony Cheetham, the MRL's first director, will be knighted and receive the title of "Sir."  Tony remains actively involved in research at UC Santa Barbara, rejoining the MRL as a research professor in January 2018 after retiring from Cambridge.  Congratulations Sir!
