The innovation engine for new materials

MRL Students chosen for Best Poster Award at the 2012 Fall MRS Meeting

December 2012

UCSB MRL student Michael W. Gaultois and post-doctoral fellow Taylor D. Sparks were selected for a Best Poster Award at the 2012 Fall Materials Research Society (MRS) Meeting in Boston.  Their poster "Using electronic instability to optimize thermoelectric performance" was one of a handful chosen from a field of 800+ posters for an award. The research reported on the poster derives from IRG-3 efforts to develop robust new thermoelectric materials based on inexpensive oxides and intermetallic compounds. The research is a collaborative effort involving MRL  Professors Levi, Pollock, Seshadri, and Stucky.
