The innovation engine for new materials

Hellen Papananou

Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Interests: I am studying polymer functionalization to achieve a universal adhesive on a wide range of inorganic and organic surfaces with the goal of applying it to solve problems in wearable devices as well as for selective deposition in the semiconductor industry. In the past I studied extensively the crystallization behavior of polymers under confinement in polymer nanocomposites.

Bio: I was born in Naoussa Greece and I acquired my B.Sc in Physics in 2005 from University of Crete. After that, I pursued my graduate studies in Advanced Materials. Ranking 1st in my Masters class I was granted fundings to complete my Ph.D. in University of Crete in a collaboration with the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH). Advised by Prof. Spiros Anastasiadis, I finished my thesis titled: ‘Polymer Structure and Dynamics under Confinement’. I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at UCSB advised by Dr. Rachel Segalman. I am aiming that my current career path will lead me to establish my research group and be a Professor at a reputable University.
