Rebecca Dally and David Jacobson Receive APS Awards

October 2017
The MRL is proud to announce two APS graduate student awards. Graduate student Rebecca Dally (Stephen Wilson group) has been awarded the American Physical Society’s GMAG Dissertation Award for her work exploring magnetism in a series of transition metal oxides with intertwined spin and orbital degrees of freedom. GMAG is the APS topical group focusing on magnetism.

Recent graduate student David Jacobson (Omar Saleh group) has been awarded the American Physical Society's 2017 Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Research in Biological Physics. The award was given for David's "pioneering studies of the electrostatic, elastic, and conformational behavior of single-stranded nucleic acids.”

The awards carry with it a cash prize as well as an invited talk at the annual March Meeting of the American Physical Society, to be held in Los Angeles in 2018.

Congratulations Rebecca and David !
