The innovation engine for new materials

2010 Workshop

The focus of the 2010 workshop was Enhancing Core Science Curriculums and Presenting Resources for Teaching Climate. Our workshops target upper elementary teachers, junior high teachers as well as secondary science teachers.

The first part of the workshop our RET teachers presented their curriculum models, which focused on "Transforming an Earth Science Curriculum", activities on the History of Life for middle school biology classes and a unit "Atoms to Asteroids" that excites students about chemistry and general science. These RET teacher presentations can be found at our RET project pages.

The second part of the workshop focused on the important topic of climate change and presented the latest research and offers information and many hands-on activities and resources for connecting with climate change. These materials address ecological impacts of climate change, ocean acidification and UCSB materials science research on alternative energy solutions.
