ICMR mini-School at UCSB: Computational tools for functional oxide materials
An introduction for experimentalists
Dates: Monday 25th, Tuesday 26th, and Wednesday 27th August 2014
Start and end times:9:00 am, Monday 25th, to 12:00 noon, Wednesday 27th.
ICMR Workshop at UCSB
Dates: Wednesday 27th, Thursday 28th, and Friday 29th August 2014
Start and end times:2:00 pm, Wednesday 27th, to 6:00 pm, Friday 29th.
Venue:University of California, Santa Barbara, ESB 1001
Organizers:
Judith Driscoll, University of Cambridge
John Mitchell, Argonne National Laboratory
Matthew Rosseinsky, University of Liverpool
Ram Seshadri, UC Santa Barbara
Theme:
The aim of this invitation-only workshop is to review the state-of-the-art of certain aspects of
functional oxide materials, both bulk and thin film, with the specific aim of improving channels
of communications between practitioners of oxide science from across different disciplines
This workshop is inspired by the earlier, highly successful one held at
UCSB in 2007: URL
Topics (in no particular order):
Magnetic, ferroic, and multiferroic oxides, high pressures, oxide heterointerfaces, 5d, high-quality materials,
theory and prediction, ion transport.
